Q: Do you recommend purchasing health insurance and if so what is the easiest way to do this?

Check which companies in your country offer travel insurance which includes health cover.

No.

Q: I would like to receive regular updates and festival news. How do I go about receiving this?

You can subscribe to the World Culture Festival Newsletter on Home page on World Culture Festival web site.

Q: Would there be a lost & found section?

Yes.

Q: Will I receive an information pack when I sign in at the stadium?

Yes, there will be a welcome pack containing schedules, maps, travel info and emergency numbers.

Travel

Q: How can I contact people in my country who may wish to share transport?

Get in touch with your WCF country coordinator: you'll find direct links to international contacts on the website

Q: Who should I contact to obtain a visa for Berlin?

Contact the Visa Office at: office@worldculturefestival

Q: Will my credit cards be accepted in Berlin? What is the easiest way to obtain euros?

Visa, Mastercard and Amex are all widely accepted in Berlin. Best to advise your bank that you will be using your card abroad. Best get money at ATM's using your bank card. Check the charges with your bank before you leave home.

Q: How can I find out about what to see while I'm in Berlin?

Tourist information is available at your hotel and at local tourist offices.

Accomodation

Q: How far is my hotel from the stadium?

Q: Are there bathroom facilities for those staying at the adjacent campsite?

Campers can use the Olympia swimming pool shower facilities.

Q: How cold does it get at night?

Average temperatures in July are 19 to 24°C but it could get cooler. Check Berlin weather at: http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/50.

Q: Are lockers available at the camp-site?

These are being arranged.

Q: What is the average distance from hotels to the stadium?

Approximatey 7 km.

Q: I am not participating in a course after the festival. Can I stay on at the hotel for the same rate?

This you can organise directly with the hotel.

Transportation

Q: How do I get from the airport to my hotel and the Olympia Stadium?

Public transport in Berlin is very efficient. Check the link: http://www.bvg.de/index.php/en/index.html

Q: Is AOL providing transport from airports to hotels?

No, we recommend you use the excellent metro system.

Q: Will shuttle buses be available from the stadium and course locations to the hotels/camp site/youth hostels?

No. We suggest using the metro system.

Q: How do I rent a car?

Through the internet or rental companies at the airport (Hertz, Europcar, Avia, Sixt), Don't forget Germans drive on the right!

Q: Should I use a particular taxi company from the airport? What is the approximate cost from the international airports (TXL or SXF) to the hotel/stadium and how long will it take.

It should take between 20 and 30 mins and the cost will be approx. € 35 to € 45.

Q: How late in the evening does the public transport run?

From the airport to the center, stadium and course locations the transport runs 24 hours.

Q: I'm staying at the camp-site so I'll have to keep my belongings with me. Will there be lockers available at the stadium?

Q: How far is the Olympia stadium from the location of the courses? How will I get there ? Are there free shuttles?

The course locatian is just 3 km from the Olympia stadium. There are no shuttles but excellent public transport. It's just 2 stops with U2.

Food

Q: When will food be available?

Food will be available from opening to closing, from 9 A.M. To 11 P.M.

Q: What currency can I use at the food festival? Can I use credit/debit cards?

No, only cash.

Q: I am assuming that we will be able to bring snacks into the stadium?

Yes, but no knives.

Event

Q: Do I have free access in and out of the stadium?

The tickets are valid only for one entrance.

Q: How big is the stadium car park and is there any charge?

Parking facilities are not guaranteed as priority will be given to coaches. Public transport is probably the best idea.

Q: Is there wi-fi at the stadium? Do I have to pay to access the wi-fi?

Wi-fi is not available.

Q: I am assuming that I can bring my handy-cam or laptop through the security gate at the stadium?

Handy cams and laptops are fine but no professional recording equipment will be allowed.

Q: My English isn't very good. Will there be translation?

Translations facilities are not available but most programs are visual - yoga, music and dancing.
