Sir Trevor Brooking certainly has a few feathers in his cap. He has excelled in a long career in football as a former West Ham player, caretaker manager, England International and as the Director of Football Development at the FA. We think where Sir Trevor really excels, though, is in his role as football pundit. Here’s why…

'He looks as though he’s been playing for England all of his international career'

Ryan Giggs settles in well after finally securing the multi-million pound transfer to the England national team he’s been after for the last 17 years.

'Unfortunately, we don't get a second chance. We've already played them twice.'

Second chances clearly aren’t enough for Trevor; he wants a third chance too. There’s always the ‘Restart’ option!

‘Merseyside derbies usually last 90 minutes and I'm sure todays won't be any different.'

Trevor stakes his claim for this year’s ‘Stating the Obvious’ trophy.

'Unfortunately, Paul Scholes' injury wasn't as bad as we'd hoped for.'

Trevor does little to refute claims that he’s ‘Ginger-ist’.

'It's end to end stuff, but from side to side'

End to end, side to side, front to back, Trevor hasn’t quite perfected his tactics on FM yet.

‘You're always going to be struggling if you haven't got a left foot'

Said Sir Trevor whilst commentating on the 2002 Subbuteo Championships after an ill-tempered attack from his manager left the left-back footless!

'Historically, the host nations do well in Euro 2000.'

Unfortunately for Trevor the stupidity of this statement was only compounded by the fact that both host nations Holland and Belgium failed to make even the final.

‘He is like an English equivalent of Teddy Sheringham'

Trevor exposes the little known fact that Teddy Sheringham is in fact from Brazil where he was known as Tedalino Sheringhamundo. Ok, not very believable but he wouldn't have looked out of place in the famous yellow shirt.

'Martin Keown is up everybody's backsides.'

Erm, no further comment needed your honour.
